The Chinese outbound tourism source market continues to grow, but also to develop into an increasing number of market segments with specific needs and expectations. After the first wave of sightseeing and shopping round-trips, the second wave of Chinese travellers look for experiences and immersion into the local culture, if only for a short period of time. "Customisation" is the buzzword of 2019 in the Chinese market, and themed tours to new destinations become more important. The presentation will highlight the major new developments of the coming years, based on the CTT China Tourism Training of COTRI and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
