Special Projects

The future of dwelling, broadly understood as living, in its multiple declinations from work to tourism, must be linked to a new idea of reversibility.
We must recognise the temporary nature of all human activities, ultimately allowing people to settle in a natural place for a certain amount of time, while leaving its unique characteristics as unchanged as possible.

At the same time, people have evolved, changed their lifestyles, and very often attribute a temporal duration to their physical presence in a place: a new nomadism has emerged on a global scale, made up of people, digital nomads, who move around and, briefly, take up residence in order to study, work or holiday.
These new users need new “activity containers” to meet their new behavioural needs.

Spaces in symbiosis with nature become “intelligent architecture”, artificial spaces, rapidly transformable, modular and changeable over time with the evolution of behaviour, easy to install and uninstall, with zero footprint on the local area.

Our solutions make use of naturally derived materials that improve efficiency and will be connected to a smart grid integrated into digital ecosystems powered by renewable sources.

Our mission is to offer a new concept of living in symbiosis with Nature, which can give Man ideas on a new way of “being” on this Planet.

TREEVIEW is a family of architectural designs for micro-reactivity in nature.

A “family” because the same genetic code generates, depending on the number of users and the geomorphological characteristics of the host site, a series of modules, with a three-dimensional steel frame, differing in the configuration of the cabin and deck.

Compositionally, the living modules are designed to make the tree the visual focus of each configuration: hence the name TREEVIEW.

The cabin thus conceived is placed on the ground, reversibly, with metal foundation screws appropriately calculated in number and size according to the geological analysis of the host land. When it rests on concrete slabs, we envisage simple adjustable support elements to ensure the cabin is perfectly level. It is possible to conceive of chassis with wheels for approval as a “mobile home” and, finally, floating systems, for floating houses on bodies of still water, such as lakes or docks.

The configuration is possible thanks to a generative algorithm, depending on user needs and the user interface, as well as on the morphology of the site: in this aspect, digital mapping of the host site with a drone and laser scanner is fundamental, in order to establish the contours of the terrain and the presence of trees.

Trees are the real stars of our architecture.

They should be seen not as a simple natural backdrop to our composition, but as real natural infrastructure for climate control and the well-being of our guests.
The benefits that the introduction of the tree into our module brings are:

  • Heat abatement
  • Natural shade
  • Control of wind and sunlight
  • Oxygenation
  • CO2 fixation
  • Air purification
  • Lowering the stress hormone cortisol
  • Contact with nature as codified by the Japanese medicine of Shinrin Yoku, or “forest bathing”

The other functional modules can be arranged around the tree: the result is a matrix with numerous possible configurations of the system that will always give the impression of a unique architectural object, even though it originates from the mathematical permutation of the same elements.

All perfectly “cast” in the host eco-system.

Even the materials with which the modules are built are the result of design research that seeks to explore the combination of different materials with innovative aesthetic and technological solutions. With the exception of the earthquake-proof steel structural frame, from natural wood to textile materials, through to transparent partitions and screens of varying shapes, the projects explore different degrees of permeability to light, views and natural ventilation, allowing guests a truly immersive experience in the host natural environment.

The interior design strives for patterns that mimic nature.

The spaces are minimal and very pure. The presence of the tree that literally passes through the module, visible from both the living room and the bathroom, dominates; pure material finishes are also predominant, as are a few pieces of furniture of the finest design, created by master craftsmen.

Ours is not an idea of decorative, bucolic or nostalgic “nature”, but of a nature that uses technology to offer new solutions, in an ever closer dialogue between the natural and the artificial.

With this collection of modules, the ne[s]t idea is to fully realise our revolutionary vision of “being in nature”: the glamping module for camping, proposed in dozens of cheap catalogue solutions, gives way to an object of pure design, parametric and bio-inspired, which can be arranged in a family of models that look like “unique pieces”, but in reality share a common genome: containers of experiences, in which the boundary between tourism, smart-working and wellness becomes blurred, for the evolved, contemporary and sustainability-conscious tourist.

He can boast of numerous international collaborations with design studios and leading companies in highly innovative multi-material prefabrication. A lecturer at the IED, the Polytechnic University of Turin, the Polytechnic University of Milan, he defines his works as “natural devices” in total symbiosis with the environment, totally reversible on the landscape, and uses linked to temporary “short stay, smart living”: unique spaces in which high tech is combined with natural materials.
His nomadic studio THE NEST provides consultancy and design of prefabricated modules for micro-accommodation all over the world, characterising each of its works with a minimal greenery that is often inspired by the most advanced parametric and biomimetic design.
